Going to the Sun at night

Once in a lifetime image of a car driving up the going to the sun road at night while Neowise Comet is on display. I used 24 consecutive images together to make this one image.

The Chase

Saturn was chasing Jupiter over the Palouse this night. The clouds cooperated with me for just a few minutes.

Comet over Conrad

This spot is what I consider the quintessential icon of this area. I try to get unique shots of it whenever I can. My guess is this will be the only comet shot ever taken here (major score on the unique scale).

Busch Bins

Anheuser Busch has a facility in Conrad Montana that just happened to make a good foreground for a comet pic.

Two Medicine Morning

This is a huge panorama of Two Medicine lake in May. It is taken predawn. There was just enough light to illuminate the mountains but still dark enough to see the Milky Way.

Little did I know that shortly after I captured this image the lifeguard chairs would disappear forever.

Weeping Wall II

Here is my second unique shot of one of the most iconic places in Glacier National Park. Just in case you wondered, it was completely dark out. I could barely (not Bearly) see my friend as he stood 4 feet away from me. It is a fun challenge to imagine what you could see and then try to photograph it.

Hangman's Night

While out trying to find new locations to photograph the Milky Way, I found this bend in Hangman Creek (eastern Washington). My goal was to try to teach a few people a bit about MW photography. They said they learned a bunch but not sure how much was from me. I became focused on trying to capture the Aurora Borealis along with the Milky Way.

Weeping Wall

The Weeping Wall in Glacier National Park is on the Going to the Sun Road. It normally has cars whizzing by and there is no way to get a good shot of it...Until now. With a quarter moon to illuminate the falls and no traffic because of the time(a bit after midnight) I was able to capture my first good shot of this area.

Smoky Stars

An odd shot of Wild Goose Island in Glacier Park, It is a 1 hour long shot and the green in the sky is from the forest fire smoke.

Burgdorf Night

Burgdorf Hot Springs is about 40 minutes outside of McCall, ID. It is just plain old fashioned rustic and cool. You can soak your cares away but you can not flush a toilet

30 Miles out.

Out in the prairie about 30 miles east of Conrad, MT sits this old house. If you want to get good night skies you need to be away from city lights..Mission accomplished. As we sat on this dirt road waiting for the sky to go dark, the conversation turned to how desolate and hard life had to be out there 100 years ago. The world has changed. People complain now when they have no cell reception. I was sitting there thinking how hard it would have been to get water.

I drove a long way out of my way to get this shot. Met up with a friend and hiked along a cliff at night to get here also. It was an experience that will never be forgotten. I would not suggest it to anyone else.

Stumbled upon an aurora display while out shooting the Milky Way at Heyburn state park. Sometimes while I am out shooting I just have to stop in awe at the beauty that is put before us.

The orange glow is the smoke from the Reynolds Creek fire being illuminated by the fire itself. This Panorama is a huge view. It is over 180 degrees wide and straight overhead.
